There is something undeniable about Thai food. Maybe it’s the peanut sauce, or perhaps the rampant use of coconut. Or is it the slight hint of fish oil in many dishes? One thing is certain though: it is delicious and we love it!
One of our favorite Thai restaurants in Beaverton is Thai Bloom, located at 3800 SW Cedar Hills Boulevard. We have been going here regularly since they opened in 2012, birthed from the ashes of the small, but popular regional Thai restaurant chain, Typhoon, which closed in late 2011. The success of the new endeavor has led to the subsequent opening of an NW Portland location and more recently, a food cart located at BG’s Food Cartel in Beaverton.
There was a period of time a while back during which we would regularly visit the Beaverton location on Sundays to take advantage of their all-day happy-hour pricing in the bar. The happy hour menu consists of many popular food dishes with a tiered pricing structure ranging from $3.99 to $7.99, flat pricing for many of their handcrafted signature cocktails (Spicy Cosmo anyone?!), $1 off well cocktails, and beer/wine specials.
What could be better than that??
Well, how about the fact that you can bring the kids and get happy hour pricing! The happy hour menu is only available in the bar area of the restaurant, however children are allowed at the tables in the bar area, just not at the bar proper.
A happy hour with food and drink specials where you can also bring your kids, and it lasts all day??
YES! It’s true!
At the time of this writing, the dine-in portions of their restaurants are unavailable due to restrictions stemming from the COVID-19 outbreak; however, all three locations are still open for business and serving up all of your tasty Thai favorites. We’ve ordered food from them several times during the stay-home order and have been quite pleased!
They even have their own smartphone app for Apple and Android where you can check out their menus as well as place orders (delivery/pick-up/curbside) at all three locations. I love this because I know all of my dollars spent with Thai Bloom are going back to Thai Bloom!
Here are a few of our favorite dishes …
- Pad Thai – Classic Thai staple done just right
- Yellow Curry – my daughter orders yellow curry @ every Thai restaurant and says this is one of the best
- Fresh Salad Rolls – let’s face it, these are really just an excuse to eat peanut sauce
- Tom Kha – big chunks of veggies swimming in a creamy broth … we could live on this stuff
- Thai Fried Rice – delicious fried rice flavors yet also fluffy in texture
- Chicken Satay – yet another reason to eat peanut sauce
- Beef Salad – thin cut beef strips with a sour lime dressing, yes please
We are looking forward to the day when we can once again dine on their patio, sipping Coconut Elixir and noshing on Tod Mun Pla (fish cakes). In the meantime, we are happy they are still serving food to-go and via delivery (wine & beer too!). If you love Thai food too, give them a try!
